Dalgona Coffee
As promised, here is the easy, step-by-step process to make Dalgona Coffee (aka whipped coffee)!
You don't need much to make this, and you probably already have all of the ingredients. You will need sugar, hot water, milk, and instant coffee. You have to use instant coffee for this. Regular coffee will not work. When I originally started making this, most people were using a whisk to mix this by hand. It can take 10 - 20 minutes of hand whisking. Please do yourself a favor and use an electric mixer. It will save you time and lots of energy!
The measurements for this are super easy - equal parts sugar, water, and instant coffee. An individual serving is 1-2 tablespoons of each ingredient. I typically use 1.5 Tablespoons for one drink. This stores really well in the fridge, so you can make extra and have it ready to go for later in the week. I've tripled the recipe and stored the extra in an air-tight container and used it the following days and it was just as good!
So now that you know the ingredients, all you have to do is mix them up! Make sure your water is boiling hot when you add it to your sugar and coffee, so everything dissolves. Then turn your mixer on low and watch the magic happen. It will gradually start to get foamy, then thicken and get lighter in color. It will turn a light shade of brown and be the consistency of whipped cream.
Once you have your whipped coffee ready, all you need to do is add it to a glass with some ice and your favorite kind of milk. I use 2% milk, but any milk alternate will be just as delicious. As pretty as it looks with your whipped coffee sitting on top of your milk, you'll want to mix it all together before drinking. The coffee is VERY strong and will not be very tasty on its own. I hope you enjoy as much as me!
