Charcuterie Board for Two
Hello everyone! I don't know about you, but I am really missing having parties and gatherings with friends. Even going out to eat isn't an option for most people. Just because we can't have a bunch of people over doesn't mean we can't have our own personal party! One of my favorite things about a party is a charcuterie board. I can't wait to share my tips with you, so let's jump right in and start our party for two!
To start you'll need a board and a couple of small bowls or jars. Little bowls are perfect for nuts, jams, and spreads. You may also need a small spoon or cheese knife depending on what you decide to add to your board. Once you've got that, it's time to decide what to put on your board.
Since this is a board for two, I like to forget about the "rules" of what you should have. For your mini-party just put on things you love. I chose to use a soft, mild cheese (Port Salut) and a hard cheese with a bit more bite (Toscana soaked in syrah). Some of my other favorites include burrata, sharp cheddar, and smoked gouda. I like to cut hard cheeses into bite-size pieces, and I tend to leave soft cheeses whole and include a small cheese knife, so you can spread it on a cracker. I like to put the cheeses on opposite ends of the board, so I can fill the space in between them with lots of other goodies!
Next is the meat. You can use anything you like. I love salami, so that's what I included. My slices were pretty big, so I folded them up to make it look a little more festive and fit the board better. I lined the folded pieces up and placed them between the two bowls I'm using.
Now that we have the most important parts on the board, it's time to dress it up a little! You've got to have something to eat your meat and cheese on, so you'll need to have crackers and/or bread. This is a great way to use up the rest of a loaf of bread that's starting to get stale. Just slice it and warm it in the oven for a few minutes and add it to your board. Rather than putting all the crackers and bread in one spot, try adding them to different sections of the board to begin filling in some of the larger areas of open space.
Now it's time to fill our little bowls with extra goodies! I think stone ground mustard is so tangy and delicious, so that has to be included on my board. I really like having a little something sweet, so I filled my other bowl with mini peanut butter cups. Fig jam or honey are other great options.
I also like to include something unexpected because who doesn't love a little surprise? Tonight's surprise was roasted garlic! Have you ever had it? It's AMAZING and super simple. You just cut the top off of a large head of garlic, drizzle a little olive oil over it and wrap it in foil. Roast it in the oven for about 45 minutes at 400 degrees.
To fill in those little extra spaces on your board, you can add nuts and dried or fresh fruit. I added in some pecans, grapes, and dried cherries. And there you have it folks - a party on a platter for two! Now just add some wine and your plus one! Comment below to let me know your favorite things to include on your charcuterie. I'd love to see your pictures as well. Tag me on instagram with your creations! @fabluxelife
